Our client is currently seeking a Research Assistant
Role specifics
The jobholder will play an important role in supporting the different activities around rapid expression and scale-up of IgG using in-house protein expression technologies.
Responsibilities include:
· Designing and conducting experiments to ensure that project objectives are met.
· Plasmid DNA scale-up and purification for routine transfections
· Manipulation of DNA vectors to allow transfection for both transient and stable cell line construction, based on CHO cells or HEK-293 cells.
· Setting-up and scaling-up IgG production using transient expression systems.
· Construction and screening of stable cell lines for production of recombinant protein.
· Supporting the general day-to-day laboratory activities within Cell Sciences.
· Contributing to the scientific direction of technology development within Cell Sciences.
· Draft appropriate reports as required
· Participating on appropriate drug development and research project teams across the global organisation. This includes presentation at appropriate internal meetings
· Liaising with other groups at the Cambridge site and also internationally to apply new developments to future projects, both with the expression technology but also with novel protein product formats.
Qualifications:
*B.Sc or equivalent in Life Sciences
*Extensive experience in protein expression from eukaryotic cells in industrial environment. Experience in molecular biology
*Experience in alternative expression systems e.g. microbial expression
*Expertise in cell biology, cell culture, and protein expression, general molecular biology techniques,
*Bioreactor scale-up, analytical techniques such as ELISA, western blotting
