» System Test Engineer

Our client is currently recruiting a System Test Engineer to participate in system testing, using own expertise and knowledge from other team members to:
Propose, plan, implement and interpret test programmes

The main side of this job will be to participate and take leading role in field trials of instruments
Diagnose system performance issues, propose and implement solutions and improvements

MAIN DUTIES:
*Be part of the team designing, building and testing gravity gradiometer instruments.
*Develop understanding of the operating principles and physics of the EGG gravity gradiometers sufficient to propose, implement and interpret test programmes.
*Participate as part of the team in the system testing, with emphasis on diagnosis, understanding and solution of problems to maintain overall progress.
*Propose and lead investigations into new concepts for EGG systems to improve performance, reliability or ease of manufacture.
*Lead further development of existing test techniques to speed or simplify test programme.
*Provide expertise in physics, numerical and analytical techniques to support all aspects of the team's activities.
*Monitor the predicted and actual performance of system, technology and component trials and identify opportunities for design and process improvements.
*Establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the business, in particular liaise with peers in similar roles to gain benefits of common practices.
*Maintain professional awareness of external developments in techniques and processes and identify where these may be used to benefit the business.
*Be aware of and ensure compliance with Health & Safety policy and procedures

DESIRED SKILLS:
*Relevant physics, applied mathematics or engineering degree or well qualified through experience
*Postgraduate degree
*Experience Academic research, industrial R&D or new product development - involving use of analytical tools.
*Experience of complex instrumentation, superconductivity and low noise systems, gravity gradiometry.
*Computer literate
*Computer simulation
*Analytical techniques
*Application of physics knowledge to complex problem solving
*Low Temperature electronics
*Low frequency measurements
*Cryogenics, superconductivity or SQUID systems
*Low noise techniques
*Closed and open loop control systems
*Instrumentation on moving platforms, vibration isolation.
*Integration of instrumentation with aircraft, airworthiness procedures
*Analysis of noisy data
